The Royal Wedding

The Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, who met at University of St. Andrews in Scotland, will take place at 11 o´clock, on 29th April, 2011, at Westminster Abbey.

The Bride will spend the night before the wedding at the Goring hotel, accompanied by her family, from where they will leave to the church. The bridesmaids will also leave from the Goring hotel, while the Bridegroom, Prince William, and his brother, Prince Harry, the best man, will leave from Clarence House.

Prince William will arrive first and wait inside the church, near the altar, with the best man.

The families, friends and guests will sit in rows in the church.

The Queen and her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, leaving from Buckingham Palace, will be the last to arrive just before the Bridesmaids and the Bride accompanied by her father.

During the service the Bridegroom gives the Bride a wedding ring and says: “With this ring I thee wed”.

After the church service all the guests for the reception hosted by the Queen will arrive at Buckingham Palace. The Queen, the Bride and Bridegroom, together with their Families will appear on the Balcony of Buckingham Palace, a tradition in Royal Weddings.

This event will be broadcast worldwide and will be part of what will surely be a fairy tale-like story of the handsome royal couple.

Westminster Abbey has been linked to English History for more than one thousand years. Various royal families have had part of their lives associated with this Abbey. For example, it has seen many coronations of Kings and Queens from William I in 1066 to Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. Also, throughout the years many monarchs chose this site to be buried while some had their funeral here, despite being buried in other places. Finally, many royal weddings have taken place there, such as the one of the current Queen.

The official residence of the Queen in London is Buckingham Palace. Windsor Castle, which is the largest occupied castle in the world, is another official residence, as well as St. James´s Palace, used for official events like the accreditation of foreign ambassadors. Kensington Palace and Clarence House alofficial residences in London.

In Scotland, the official residence of the Queen is the Palace of Holyroodhouse, in Edinburgh.

All these residences belong to the Crown and cannot be sold.

The Queen owns two private estates: Sandringham House, in Norfolk, England and Balmoral Castle, in Scotland.
