The Christmas Wreath

Christmas Wreath 2014

In ancient Rome, people used decorative wreaths as a sign of victory and celebration. The tradition of hanging a wreath on the front door of your home probably came from this custom.

Evergreens are commonly used because they symbolize the strength of life overcoming the forces of winter due to their hardiness throughout harsh weather.

The circle shape is also a symbol of immortality, strength, eternal love and the creation of a new life.

The pineapple symbolizes hospitality

The first Christmas trees were decorated with apples.

In the 19th century poor children dreamed of getting an orange for Christmas
