Welcome to Jamaica

I arrived in Jamaica and went straight to the north coast (Ocho Rios). There I spent some beautiful days relaxing in Tower Isles hotel, which was built in 1949. In the piano bar we can see old photos of glamorous tourists, some very well known. In those days, luxury holidays were not for everybody. Later the all-inclusive concept was introduced. Maybe the charm of the late forties and fifties was lost, but everything is provided for you to have the best holiday time, without flamboyance.

...it’s one of the only waterfalls on Earth that empties directly into the ocean. This popular natural attraction is known for its lush setting and for its roles in the Tom Cruise film Cocktail and the James Bond  Dr No.

Perhaps because I visited so many waterfalls this summer I was not so impressed

I visited Goldeneye in Oracabessa

Although the Island is small its influence is far bigger than its size, especially in music with reggae and Bob Marley as an incomparable icon and, of course, the incredible athletes, like Usain Bolt and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who project Jamaica worldwide.

In Kingston:

I learned many things with a guide who told us she had also made a tour of Bob Marley´s house to President Obama.

Bob Marley was very productive and won many platine and gold  records. Although he died of cancer at the early age of 36 he had 12 children

I also visited Devon´s House, the National Gallery and King´s House.
