Have you seen the film Imitation Game? It tells the story of Alan Turing, during the Second World War when he worked at Bletchley Park to help decipher the Enigma code used by the nazis...
Well, the logo on the back of your iPhone or Mac is said to be a tribute to Alan Turing, the man who laid the foundations for the modern-day computer. Unrecognized for his work, he was persecuted by the government for being homosexual and humiliated by estrogen injections intended to "cure" his homosexuality. He committed suicide ten years after the Normandy landings, which made considerable use of the method he had discovered. He bit into an apple with cyanide.
The story goes on when two entrepreneurs were looking for a logo for their brand new computer company...they chose an apple with a bite taken out of it to pay tribute to Alan Turing and his contributions in their field.
Steve Jobs remained silent on this matter, perhaps because he enjoyed it. Some people say the apple represents knowlege and the "bytes" were the foundation stones of computing...
It may not be true but it is a beautiful story that may turn into a legend...
Don´t miss the film. I saw it for the second time this week.
